Dr Chambers is the CEO of the National Foundation for Medical Research and Innovation (NFMRI). He has more than 20 years experience in start-up companies, commercial research and biotechnology. Noel has been the CEO/Managing Director of both listed and unlisted biotechnology companies and has extensive experience with start-up biotechnology companies, technology transfer and spinning companies out of Universities and CRC’s.
In the early 90’s his patented discoveries in type II diabetes led to a commercial partnership where he lead a team of researchers at the University of Sydney and was presented the Royal Australian Chemical Institute’s Biota Award for Medicinal Chemistry. Noel has been Head of Research for an Australian healthcare company and Business Development Manager for a multinational life-science company where he was responsible for in-licensing and company acquisitions.
Noel is a serial entrepreneur. He established his first company providing aquatic educational services when he was a student building the business to employ more than 70 staff. He has developed and commercialised a number of software solutions and established a number of start-up companies and business units. Noel co-founded Centuris in 1999 and led the establishment of Research Australia Philanthropy from 2009 – 2012.
Noel is a member of the Federal Governments Advisory Council for Intellectual Property (ACIP), advising the Federal Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science.
